Toddler fun, Library Adventures, and Life as a Boy Mom

Happy Tuesday!

I can’t believe I’m even saying that. I feel like the weekend flew by and honestly, it’s crazy that we’re already in May. Time is flying by and the more things we plan as a family the faster the time goes. It’s insane! As much fun as I’m having being a mamma, I do wish time would slow down. I love watching my boys grow but it’s going too fast! I really do love my life and being a mom so much.

We’ve had a busy week filled with lots of fun adventures and all the fun outside activities. Both boys have had a great week and have loved all the outside time we’ve been getting. On Wednesday I told my toddler that we could have a little picnic after his nap. What he didn’t know is that I planned to do some fun activities outside as well.

He had lunch before his nap, so I packed all his favorite snacks for the last-minute picnic he wanted to have. Cottage cheese (he decided he didn’t like it during our picnic), fruit, string cheese, and a honey stick from the farmer’s market. And of course, I had a bubbl’r. The peach flavor is the BEST!

Baby boy has been sitting up so well lately so I thought it would be fun to make a fun little water and orange sensory bowl for him to play in. He was obsessed and absolutely loved it. This will for sure be something I will be doing more often for him. Next time I’ll add in some lemons and limes.

My sister gifted my toddler this sensory dinosaur bin for his birthday, and he’s laterally obsessed with it. I thought it would be a fun idea to fill it with a little water that way the sand would stick to the dinos, and rocks and he could wash them off in soapy water with a scrub brush. He loved it and had so much fun cleaning all his dinos off! We will definitely be doing that again. I think next time we’ll do something else like cars or maybe his airplanes. I know either way he’ll love it. He gets so focused when he’s trying to get the things cleaned.

Thursday morning, I decided to take the boys to the library. We’ve never been to the library before, and I thought it would be a fun thing to start doing. Baby boy slept the whole time. LOL. My toddler loved it, but he was more interested in the fish than the books. That is until we got home, and he wanted to read all the books. The library is going to be one of our new favorite things to do. My toddler has been loving ready more and more so I know this is something we will be doing more often.

Early postpartum me would have never thought that I’d go out so much with my boys. It’s something that scared me so much and I was so worried I’d never be able to go out alone with both of them. Now I go out almost daily with boys and it’s so easy now! I definitely gave myself a pat on the back when I realized this. It was a huge accomplishment for me as a mom. I’m so happy with how far I’ve come since having both my boys. I’m telling you that you wouldn’t even recognize me if you meant me before I had my boys. It’s truly for the better. I’ve changed so much, and it’s all been for the better.

smoothie

Once we got back from the library and both boys went down for a nap I got in a quick workout and shower and made my go to strawberry banana smoothie. It’s one of my favorite smoothie recipes! I make this smoothie almost every day. My husband loves it too. It’s so GOOD!

Since it’s been warm out we’ve been spending so much time outside. Friday, after the park we stopped and got ice cream from one of the ice cream places by us. Briqs ice cream. My toddler was super happy about that decision. LOL.

On Saturday I saw on Facebook that there was a children’s festival going on near us, so we decided last minute that we were going to spend the morning there. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I didn’t have much time to look anything up about it, but I knew it would be something fun for both my toddler and baby boy. Gosh did my toddler and baby boy have a blast and honestly me and Devin did too.

There were so many fun things for my toddler to do. He was able to color, there was an area that he made his own pins, they had a bubble show (he was obsessed with it). He also got a bunch of free stuff. They were giving out free books, stickers, bags, and even bike helmets. They had so many fun activities for the kids, and they even had some animals there. My toddler was obsessed. The baby cow was his favorite for sure! And the food trucks… Oh my gosh they had the best food. I wish I got the name of the food truck we ate from because it was so good.

It was such a fun last minute thing for us to do as a family and I’m so happy we did it. Both baby boy and my toddler were super tired, and they both fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Saturday we were outside basically all day long! It finally hit the 80s this past week and it felt so nice. We just wanted to soak in all the warm and sunshine. LOL. You never know when it will go away in Wisconsin. I actually think it’s going to be in the low 50s this coming weekend.

Sunday was Mother’s Day, and me and my boys went to church in the morning. My older sister goes to the same church as me and she has a toddler about a year older than my toddler. They love that they get to see each other at church almost every Sunday. I feel like at this point they’re best friends. LOL. We spent the rest of the day together as a family soaking up the sunshine. It was such a nice Mother’s Day.

Monday morning was a coffee and park day for us. I went to a coffee shop in our town that I’ve been wanting to try, and it did not disappoint. It’s literally one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever tried. They’re a small family owned drive through coffee shop with a few employees. It’s my new favorite coffee shop and I will definitely be going there more often! I got a white chocolate mocha, and I got my toddler a strawberry Italian soda. Both were AMAZING and the Italian soda was dye free which was a huge plus. We try to stay away from dyes as much as possible.

Dinner was chicken stuffed zucchini boats. I will say that this is probably going to be my new favorite dinner for a while. It’s so easy and really good. Plus, much healthier than a lot of other options.

We’ve been so busy this past week I feel like I haven’t had a lot of time to take it all in. I even decided to stay home today instead of taking another trip to the library because we’ve been so busy. It was a good decision, and I loved just spending time with my boys at home today. We spend the morning inside and had breakfast on the balcony. There were lawn mowers out and my toddler is obsessed with watching them. LOL. I thought it would be fun to stay inside for the morning and catch up on some reading since we have a lot of library books to read before it’s time to return them.

For dinner I made steak bowls (the recipe will be up sometime this week) and after that we went to the park which only latest five minutes because the misquotes were out. I’m not looking forward to having to use bug spray. Once we got home, we let our toddler play outside for a bit before coming in and getting ready for bed. I wish I had the energy my toddler has. LOL. It seems like he never gets tired.

lifestyle

This week has been so fun for us as a family. It’s nice writing about it and re living it in a way. LOL. Life is great and I’m so thankful for everything! I’m happy you stopped by and thanks for reading this week’s highlights. I hope you enjoyed it and are having a great start to your week!

Questions for you!

  1. What’s something fun you did this week?
  2. What’s your go to coffee order?
  3. Do you have a favorite meal that you could eat weekly?
