Spring Rice Krispie Treats
Rice Krispie Ingredients:
Here is everything that you need to make these springtime rice Krispie treats.
- Butter: Normally I would recommend unsalted butter but not for these rice Krispie treats. For the most part it’s better to use unsalted butter for most desserts so you’re able to control how much salt goes into the recipe. However, I would suggest using salted butter. Salted butter has just the right amount of salt added to it for this dessert.
- 6 cups miniature marshmallows: Marshmallows are must for helping hold the bars together. Mini marshmallows melt much faster than normal sized marshmallows.
- 5 cups rice crispy cereal: I use name brand rice Krispie cereal however you can use whatever brand you like best.
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract: Helps enhance the flavor in these rice Krispie treats.
- 4 tablespoons of your favorite springtime sprinkles: Adding in your favorite springtime sprinkles makes these rice Krispie treats a great springtime dessert. Make them for a family gathering held in the spring like easter. Everyone will love how delicious and festive these rice Krispies bars are!
I have found that using more marshmallows and a little bit of vanilla extract makes the rice Krispie treats more flavorful and extra ooey and gooey making them the best rice Krispie treats I’ve had so far. I have always loved having more of a gooey rice Krispie rather than a crispy one. It’s all preference but I’m so happy I found the perfect amount of marshmallows and rice crispy cereal to mix together to make these treats extra ooey and gooey!

How To Make Rice Krispie Treats
- Get your rice crispy cereal ready: Pour 5 cups of rice crispy cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
- Melt your butter and marshmallows: Heat 1/4 butter over low heat in medium sized pan. Once the butter is fully melted add in 6 cups of marshmallows to the pan. Keeping on low heat cook until the marshmallows are fully melted. Add in your vanilla extract and stir until well combined.
- Mix everything together: Pour the butter and marshmallow mixture over the bowl of rice crispy cereal you set aside earlier. Mix until combined.
- Add in your sprinkles: Lastly, you’re going to want to add the springtime sprinkles into your bowl and stir until combine.
I love making rice Krispie treats. They’re super easy to make and I love being able to make them for the holidays. Its fun being able to change up how I make them with every holiday and being able to share them with all of my family and friends. It’s always fun trying something new with your favorite recipes.
