Springtime is right around the corner you know what that means! It’s time for spring cleaning. I’m actually pretty excited. There is nothing better than the feeling of a fresh and clean home to start the spring season! Here is the best room by room spring cleaning checklist!
I try to do at least two bigger cleans a year. However, since having my second baby it’s been a lot harder to keep up on cleaning. My apartment could definitely use a major deep clean right about now.
Keeping a list of everything I want to get done plus all the odds and ends that I am always forgetting has been a game changer for me. This allows me to make sure I’m cleaning every little thing. It may seem obsessive but having a clean home is important to me.
If having a clean home is just as important for you as it is for me then you will love this room-by-room spring cleaning checklist. This deep cleaning checklist will keep your home looking fresh all spring long!

Spring Cleaning Checklist
Supplies you will need:
Before you dig into your spring cleaning, I thought it would be nice to share some of the essential cleaning supplies that you will need.
- Bucket
- Sponges
- All-purpose cleaner/ your favorite cleaners for every room
- White vinegar
- Dish soap
- Baking soda
- Vacuum
- Mop
- Cleaning rags
- Microfiber rags
- Scrub Brush
- Mr. Clean magic eraser
Spring cleaning does require a lot of time. Since becoming a mom, I have been trying to downsize the amount of time all my deep cleans take. I have found that if I break up my cleaning room by room and do one room per day, I’m able to spend less time cleaning per day. Which makes more time to spend with my family each day. Rather than cleaning nonstop for 2-3 days. I’m able to get my spring cleaning done in a fairly short amount of time.
I can usually finish up my spring cleaning between 7-10 days. This has been a game changer! I absolutely love doing deep cleans this way. Cleaning can stress me out and if you’re in the same boat this strategy for deep cleaning will help you out so much!
Doing one room a day is really manageable too. I can usually get one room done during my baby and toddlers naptime. This cleaning checklist will go over my own personal spring-cleaning checklist.
Cleaning one room a day can make spring cleaning much more enjoyable. You’re can really focus on just that one room, so you don’t forget anything. I know when I’m trying to get everything cleaned in a short period of time, I always miss something in almost every single room. It makes the whole process take so much longer and I usually just end up skipping the things I missed. Which isn’t something that I don’t like doing.
By allowing yourself to slow down and clean, taking it one room at a time, allows for a fresher and happier home. Plus, you won’t forget anything either. This whole spring-cleaning checklist makes the process so much easier.
All-over Cleaning:
First there are some things that you will be cleaning in every room of your house. Lets get these things out of the way first. You can add these things to each room’s checklist.
1. Clean Ceiling Fans And Light Fixtures
I like to get my ceiling fans and light fixtures out of the way first. They are my least favorite things to do. Also, it wouldn’t make sense to clean them last. Clean your ceiling fans with your vacuum and then wipe down with a warm cleaning rag with light dish soap. You will want to unplug all your lamps before you start cleaning your light fixtures, so the bulbs have time to cool down. Wipe your light fixtures with microfiber a dry cloth. Then lightly dampen the cloth with mild soap and wipe down the light fixtures.
Tip: If your light fixtures come apart its best to take them apart before cleaning and let them dry before putting them back together.
2. Wash Windows Blinds And Window Screens
Oh my gosh let me tell you, window screens get SO dirty. I didn’t believe it until I started to wash them and saw for myself. simply clean my window screens with warm water, dish soap, and a scrub brush. For your windows and blinds spray with Windex and wipe down with a cleaning rag.
3. Dust
Next, I like to dust everything. Dust will literally build up in every room no matter how often you dust. Especially if you have pets. Dusting is a must for every room.
4. Wipe Ceilings And Walls
Everyone’s walls build up with marks over the year which leaves your walls looking rough. Vacuum your walls and scrub off any marks that have built up with a magic eraser.
5. Baseboards
Cleaning your baseboards leave each room with the perfect finishing touch. The best way to clean your baseboards is by vacuuming them down and then wiping them down with all-purpose cleaner. I promise cleaning your baseboards makes a huge difference!
6. Vacuuming and mopping
The last thing I like to do in every room is vacuum and mop if needed. The floors are exposed to so much dirt and grim. If you live in a colder state where it snows often then it’s also exposed to salt. Making sure your floors get vacuumed and mopped often is very important if you want to keep your home clean.
P.S. this is the order I like doing my deep cleaning as I find doing it in another order just doesn’t make sense. I like to start from the top and work my way down.
