Motherhood Lately and My First Sourdough Starter
Motherhood lately has been so wonderful! Honestly it really isn’t ever not great. This past week has just been such a fun week as a mom and I absolutely love it!

Motherhood Lately
The house is so quiet and peaceful right now. It’s almost 11:00pm and my husband and boy boys are asleep. Of course, my 2 month old will be awake multiple times during the night for feedings, but I love it. I love that I’m able to breastfeed my baby and that he can feed on demand. I love my late nights blogging and him being around too. Honestly, though I don’t have much time during the day to write because I’m super busy with both my boys. I like to be as present with them as possible. All I really want in life is to be the best mom and wife that I can be. It’s always been my biggest goal. Being a mom has been my favorite thing in life. Motherhood lately has been great, and I’m so excited to share about my first sourdough starter experience!
My older son loves cutting his fruit. He love’s cutting anything really and I love that I was able to find this cutting board set that he can’t cut himself with. It’s times like this that you really get to live in the moment and slow down in life. Slowing down is so important not only for yourself but also for you children. I’ve always been go, go, go. I never wanted to slow down. Until I had my boys. Now I always want to be in the moment with them.

Since becoming a mom my time with Jesus isn’t always alone anymore. Even with being a stay at home mom me and the boys are always so busy. I try and make time when I have alone time, but a lot of my Jesus time is now with my baby. Which I don’t mind. Things were the same way when I had my first. The fact that they will know about Jesus at such a young age is something that has been really important to me. So, I’m really glad I’m able to have them be a part of my Jesus time!
This past week has been busy with the holidays ending and getting back in a good routine. I don’t mind being off schedule sometimes (you know it’ll happen with two boys) but there is just something about getting back into routine that feels so great.

My mornings start with a big cup of coffee. You know I need it with being up until almost 3:00am every night. I know it seems crazy but if I don’t stay up that late, I wouldn’t be able to write or edit photos and videos. And this blog is really important to me.
I’ve learned to adapt to staying up until 3:00am anyways, because before being a stay at home mom when I was pregnant with my second baby I worked a night job. I absolutely hated it but in order for me to become a full time stay at home mom we had to pay off some of our debt. So I stayed strong because it meant I would one day be able to stay home full time with both my boys. And now here I am a night owl.
Most mornings my toddler is EXTREMLY hungry. Breakfast is always his favorite meal, and he always eats the most. I mean like three separate breakfasts within a three hour period sometimes. They do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I haven’t been a big fan of winter this year. Honestly, I don’t know why I live in Wisconsion sometimes, but I try to make the most of it and get outside as much as possible. My toddler loves being outside no matter the temperature. We try to make it outside as much as possible. Even if mamma doesn’t want to.
I’ve been thinking about moving so much lately, but I don’t want to leave either sides of my family. Family is super important to me. I just wish everyone could move far away from this place with us. I love the seasons but man the winter here is so extreme. We have at least 6 months of freezing cold where we live! That’s absolutely crazy if you ask me.
Anyway, let’s stop talking about where I live and get into some of the fun things we did this week.
This weekend was my sister in laws daughter’s birthday. She had a candy themed party. I didn’t get any pictures sadly, but the birthday party was so cute! Everyone was able to go swimming because the party was in a hotel which was really fun. My toddler loved swimming with my husband.
We were able to get on some walks this past week I try to go on walks to distract me from the freezing cold. Let me tell you it actually helps and sometimes I even catch myself working up a sweat. How cute is my toddler?! I’m telling you the cold weather doesn’t bother him.
Sourdough Starter
Another fun thing I was able to do is start my first ever sourdough starter. I’m so excited but so worried that I’m going to do it wrong. I’ve always wanted to make my own bread but have always been so nervous about it. However enough was enough and I decided to just do it. The recipe I used called for flour, whole wheat flour, and warm water. Does that sound right to you?
I knew making sourdough bread was hard but honestly, I didn’t think it was this hard, and I’m only on the first day of making the starter. I know it will get easier as I make it so I’m going to just trust the process.
The recipe also says that it can take longer than a week for the sourdough starter to be ready to use. I had no idea. I really just thought that you mixed flour and some other ingredients together and baked it and boom you had bread.. Boy was I wrong. I’m really excited though. I’ve always wanted to be a bread maker and now I’m in the era!
My husband is also really excited about me being in my bread making era. Our whole family really loves bread. I mean who doesn’t?
I will definitely update on my sourdough starter. Hopefully it will work out and I’ll have a great starter for my first sourdough recipe. I’m planning on sharing lots of sourdough recipes on my blog too! Of course, once I get the hang of making it first. What are some of your favorite sourdough recipes I could try?
Toddler Play Time
I purchased a big pack of different colored stickers and notepads on amazon for teaching my toddler his colors, and so far, the strategy has worked really well for him. He now knows four colors. Blue (his favorite), red, yellow, and purple. I love doing these kinds of things with my toddler. I don’t push him too much though. When I see he is getting frustrated I stop and we do something else. He’s not even two yet and he’s doing super well for his age I don’t want to push him too much.
He also really loves playing with blocks. His favorite thing is when his dad makes all his favorite things. Airplanes and vacuums.
This boy is seriously so obsessed with vacuums. My mom got him a real working vacuum for Christmas and it’s one of his favorite things to do. I put Legos on the floor, and he just follows along vacuuming them up. He would literally vacuum the whole house with me. It’s so much fun to watch him get so excited about it. Really, it’s the littlest things that toddlers love so much!
I bought both the colored stickers and the notepads back in August of last year and I still have plenty of the stickers and notepad paper. I’d be surprised if I ever run out of the stickers. I didn’t realize how long they really would last me.
Being a mom has taught me to be patient, it’s taught me to slow down and be present. Mostly importantly it’s taught me what true love really is. Having what you created love you more than anything is the most amazing thing in the entire world. I’m so blessed to have my two boy and so beyond thankful that I can create the life for them that they deserve.
Motherhood has taught me so much and I’m so thankful for my two boys and our family. Being able to create these memories for not only them but also me is so amazing. I’m so lucky that me and my husband can raise them.
What’s your favorite thing about being a mom or dad?
