Hospital Visit, Daily Walks, and Motherhood
It’s currently a little after 9:00pm on a Wednesday night and what a week it has been for our family. It’s been a rough past couple of days, so I didn’t get to post my weekly highlight on Monday. Last night I planned to stay up and catch up on everything, but I was so tired I just decided to go to bed when my husband did. So here I am on Wednesday night with lots of blogging to catch up on.

My toddler is still obsessed with fruit. On grocery shopping days as soon as we get home, he will usually eat a whole container of raspberries with Devin. I’ve been giving baby boy little bits of foods once in a while and he’s obsessed. He loves fruit too!

I’ve been trying to make it a point to go on daily walks. This is something I’d like to do all year long but in the wintertime it’s just not always doable. We’ve been able to go on daily walks every day for the past week and a half besides for Monday. I love walks and so does my toddler. He likes to watch for all the dogs, birds, airplanes, cars, lawn mowers (now that it’s warmer out), and all the fun things. It’s super important for me to show my boys that walking and daily exercise is something that they should be doing every day. My toddler doesn’t have any problem getting his exercise in. LOL. He’s always on the move and could spend all day outside if I let him.

Even with all the rain this past week we still made it outside for our daily walks. When the weather was super nice out, we took advantage and went on more than one walk. I’m ready for the weather to be warm all the time.

Thursday, I made cinnamon rolls and my toddler DEVOERED his. Honestly, they are the best cinnamon rolls I’ve made yet. I’m working on my sourdough cinnamons rolls. LOL. I’d much rather use sourdough rather than yeast. So, once I have a good sourdough cinnamon roll recipe, I’ll share that one too.

Friday, I shared my strawberry latte recipe with you guys! It’s so good and is made with a homemade strawberry cold foam. If you haven’t tried it yet you definitely should. And let me know how you like it. I have lots of coffee recipes coming to my blog!

Saturday, I made protein egg bites (recipe will be coming soon), and a loaf of sourdough bread. I have so many recipes to share I just haven’t had the time to blog these past couple days. I promise I’ll get them posted! I’m also going to be sharing my sourdough recipe in a couple of months.

My toddler loved the egg bites. Of course, the ones without the bell peppers in them. LOL. He’s not a huge pepper fan. I think these eggs bites will be a weekly thing. They’d be great for meal prepping for the week.
We spent a lot of time outside on Friday and Saturday. Playing with chalk, going for walks, playing with bubbles, and my toddler finally decided to start riding his bike more. When it comes time for a bike with peddles, he’s going to catch on so well. I bought his balance bike off of Amazon for his birthday.

Baby boy literally just sleeps in his baby wrap most the time when we’re outside. When he’s not sleeping, he’s either looking at everything or playing on a blanket in the grass. I have outside boys for sure.

While my toddler napped on Saturday I went and picked up some things that we left at my parents house on Easter. Plus, I had to stop at get some raw milk they bought for me anyways. Milk definitely isn’t my favorite drink but, I do like raw milk a whole lot more than store bought milk.

My toddler is so obsessed with throwing rocks in the water. Whenever he sees any kind of water all he wants to do is find rocks to throw in it. And now recently it’s been the same things with sticks. He would spend all day throwing rocks and sticks in the water if I let him. LOL.

Monday, we went on our morning walk and once we were back inside that’s when things changed with my toddler. He was extremely different than when we left for our walk. Super cranky, tired, and nothing I did for him helped. I noticed him grabbing at his stomach and saying “owwy” a bunch and I thought maybe he was just super hungry. He refused food so I decided to get him down for a nap since he was super tired. He was doing the same thing for his nap and was waking every couple minutes in extreme pain and screaming.
I knew right then that something was wrong, and I knew I needed to take him into the emergency room. I’m not one to overreact and go to the emergency room but I knew something was wrong. Plus, the weather was supposed to be bad later that night (Tornado bad) and I definitely didn’t want to be away from home for that. I messaged Devin and let him know I was going to be taking him into the emergency room.

He was almost done with work, so I had my mom meet me at the hospital while I waited for him to get there since I knew I wasn’t going to be able to take care of both my toddler and baby boy. We were in the waiting room for just about 3 hours.
After tests, ultrasounds, and x-rays they found out what was wrong. We were transferred to the children’s hospital about an hour away and my toddler had to have a procedure done that night. We had to stay overnight and thank goodness they let baby boy stay too because I’m not sure what I would have done if they hadn’t.

I’m not going to go into much detail about the whole situation just because I don’t want all my toddler’s information online, but I will say it was one of the scariest things I’ve had to go through as a mom so far. We’re so thankful it wasn’t worse than it was but my goodness I felt so bad for my toddler. He is one tough boy.
I think I got a whole two hours of sleep Monday night. With the nurses coming in and having an exclusively breastfeeding baby along with a sad toddler I really wasn’t able to sleep. Thankfully there was a Starbucks inside the hospital!

We stopped for some food on the way home and since there was a Target nearby, we went inside and let our toddler pick out a toy for the ride home.

When we got back on Tuesday everyone was ready for a nap. After I was able to get both boys down, I got into bed with my toddler and napped as well. LOL. We co sleep so our toddler was already in our bed. We just recently bought our toddler his own bed and he usually just sleeps in it for his naps and for part of the night. Co sleeping is just what works best for us.
My toddler was much more himself after his nap and was even up for a walk. After our walk we spent the rest of the night spending time together as a family and relaxing. I planned to stay up and get some things done but I was still really tired, so I went to bed with Devin shortly after the boys were asleep.

Today my toddler was almost completely himself. Which I’m so happy about. He was up for all the playing, going for walks, playing outside, going to the park, and even stopping to get ice cream after. I mean what toddler would say no to ice cream? Devin got a root beer float and my toddler, and I both got a smores flurry. My toddler only had a few bites, so the rest is sitting in the freezer for him to have another day. I’m so thankful my lil guy is happy and healthy. Our family is truly blessed and I’m so grateful to God.

I made homemade blueberry coffee creamer that I’ll be sharing this week too! It’s my favorite coffee creamer I’ve made so far and I’m, so excited to be sharing it with you guys. I’m sure if you’re a coffee lover like me that you’ll like it just as much as I do! And there isn’t a bunch of preservatives added to it.

Anyways I hope you all had an amazing week and thanks for stopping by to read this week’s weekly post! My toddler is still doing great and is healthy and happy. My recipes will still be on the blog this week. Have a great night!
