Health & Fitness Goals, Outside Adventures, & Spring Plans

It finally hit over 70 degrees here today in Wisconsion. And then Sunday is supposed to be a low of 24. I’m not looking forward to that especially after today. We spent all afternoon outside. I just keep telling myself that it can only get warmer from here. Thinking about the warm weather that’s coming gets me excited for all the things I have planned for springtime. Gardening, spring recipes, family adventures, and getting ready for summertime. It’s going to be even more fun this year now that my toddler is older and with baby boy getting older, he’s also going to have so much fun outside this spring and summer. We are going to do all the fun things, and I’m so happy to take you along with us!

day in the life blogs

I’ve been planning weekly days to see my family recently since we haven’t been seeing each other lately. Things got busy after the holidays and since we aren’t all super close it’s been harder to see each other. So, I’m trying to plan days to see everyone weekly/biweekly. And so far, it’s been working out great for everyone.

When it’s warm out I try to take both my boys outside as much as possible. My toddler loves being outside and his whole attitude changes on days we spend outside. He sleeps so much better and he’s in a much better mood. He love’s going on adventures, and he could literally run what seems like forever. I would love to have the amount of energy he has.

Monday was our first warmer day this week. So, we took advantage of it and took our toddler to the park. Once it gets a little warmer out, I think I’m going to start taking him to the park everyday even if it’s just for an hour or so. He literally has so much fun and gets out so much of his energy. And since I’m able to stay home with my boys I don’t see why it wouldn’t be a good idea. With us living in an apartment we don’t have a whole lot of room to do very much. Plus, it would be nice for us to have some change in scenery.

While my husband was at work on Tuesday my parents helped me move everything from our storage unit to our garage. I’ve been wanting to move everything for a while now but with it being cold I kept putting it off. We weren’t able to get everything moved on Tuesday but thankfully it was finished on Wednesday. I’m literally so relieved that it’s done. LOL.

Tuesday was a day well spent outside going on lots of adventures all over the place. My toddler loves just walking around and looking at everything. His favorite thing is when he is seeing a dog or other little kids playing. He always wants to join in on all the fun. Bubbles are his favorite thing!

Baby boy doesn’t like his stroller at all. He lasts a whole 2 minutes in it before he starts crying and I take him out. LOL. I really wish he liked the stroller more but since he doesn’t, I just wear him in a baby carrier. My favorite one I use is this momcozy one from amazon. I’ve been using it since I had my first son, and I highly recommend it. It’s super comfy and really easy to use.

Bubbl’r came out with a new flavor, and I’m obsessed! Peach raspberry. It tastes just like a peach ring!

He’s such a big helper! He’s loves pushing the stroller with me.

banana bread

Thursday, I made walnut banana bread (requested by my husband). My favorite banana bread! It’s so moist and really easy to make. My toddler helped me make this loaf and he had a blast! Once the banana bread was finished, we spent the entire afternoon\evening outside. I believe it almost hit 60 degrees on Thursday which was super nice. I love that my toddler is getting to the age that he’s able to help out with so much. He’s at the age where he can do so much and is learning so much and I love it!

My toddler slept in until almost 10 today and he still took a nap! It must’ve been all the playing outside yesterday. After his nap we went straight outside. We were out until 7. I guess that means another late morning for him. Today was a really fun day for our whole family. This past year we bought electric scooters that Devin is obsessed with. Today we took both boys for a ride on the scooters and went down to the airport right by our apartment. My son is obsessed with airplanes, and we were hoping to see some either take off or land. And we saw both! He was so happy. It made his whole entire day, and he couldn’t stop talking about it.

day in the life

After our fun scooter ride, we went on all the walking adventures and my son rode around in his car he has. I think he rode around for at least an hour before he started getting bored of it. We did at least a couple miles of walking around finding all the pinecones and seeing all the dogs. Today has really made me excited for spring and summer. I can’t wait for the warm weather to stay.

I have so many things planned for this spring! I’m going to have a little garden on our balcony and I’m going to plant all the flowers! I’m not sure what I’m going to plant in the garden yet especially since I won’t have a ton of room, but I know for sure I want to grow herbs and lettuce. I’ll keep you in the loop and let you know everything that will be in my little garden. I’m thinking maybe some wildflowers for sure and then I’ll go from there. My toddler will LOVE gardening with me! I’m so excited for all the fun family adventures we will go on this spring, and I think I’m most excited for all the spring recipes.

How pretty are these tulips I got from the grocery store this last week? I’m in my flower era and I don’t think it will ever go away!

springtime

I’ve always been really into exercise ever since I was younger. I did gymnastics for a few years and once I quit, I got into running and haven’t stopped ever since. I feel like exercise has always been a part of who I am, but it hasn’t been something that I’ve fit into my life in a healthy way. With most things I’m either all in or all out. I take it to the extreme or I don’t want anything to do with it. So, my exercise and eating habits haven’t been the greatest.

Before having my first son I was hard core into running. I would run 15+ miles a day on my treadmill along with a high impact or heavy weight workout. Along with that I wasn’t eating enough. I continued my exercise my whole pregnancy but lessened it slightly. And I made sure I was eating a lot more during my pregnancy. After having my son, when I was able to exercise again, I started slowly and never got to as intense runs or workouts as I did before I had him. I continued exercise throughout my second pregnancy just until the end (I had zero time a story for another post). And things went the same way as they did with my first. I started exercise again but much less than I did before I had my boys.

Because exercise has felt like such a big part of who I am I’ve felt really guilty for not being able run and workout like I used to. Honestly, I was working out pretty excessively so maybe it wasn’t the healthiest?

With all that being said I really want to focus on exercising/running for me and eating a well-balanced diet. I also want to make sure I’m giving myself the rest I need and not over exercising. I’ve always wanted to run a marathon and maybe this is the perfect time to train for that.

I’m going to listen to my body with both eating and exercising. I don’t believe in diets I believe in a well-balanced lifestyle.

I feel like I need to make a whole separate post on this. Maybe that’s something I can do in the future because I just touched the tip of my health and fitness journey, and I could write a whole blog post about it.
