Cozy Mornings, Sourdough Making, and Family Time
This past week has been filled with lots of family time and sourdough baking. The weather looks like it’s finally going to start warming up and it’s gotten me thinking and looking forward to all the outdoor things we are going to be doing. Picnic’s, hikes, water parks, gardening, and literally all the outdoor things. My toddler and baby boy are going to have a blast this summer! I’m hoping I’ll be able to start some outdoor running again too. This coming weekend it’s supposed to be in the 60s!

I literally love my slow and cozy mornings. I’m so happy I have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and that I’m able to wake up and have slow mornings with my boys. I love sipping my coffee while reading my boys a book and not having to rush around because I have to get ready for work. Simple moments like these really show me how blessed I am. I’m so thankful for the life I’ve been given, and I truly wouldn’t change a thing.
Lately my toddler has been loving reading. I feel like I could read to him for hours and he would never get bored. I’ve been reading him a children’s bible and he’s been so into. I love it!

Tuesday afternoon me and my toddler made another batch of homemade coffee creamer but this time I made it cinnamon flavor. You can find the cinnamon flavoring I used on my Amazon storefront. It’s LorAnn cinnamon and spice! It’s my new favorite flavor! I’m looking forward to testing out and sharing more coffee creamer recipes. I’m a coffee girly so you can bet I plan on sharing lots of coffee recipes. Lattes, creamers, cold foams. I’m so excited!
I did lots of baking and recipe testing on Tuesday! After making my homemade coffee creamer I made a batch of carrot cake cookies. I plan on making these for Easter. They are literally so good. If you or your family are carrot cake lovers, these cookies will be a big hit. Trust me.
I started a brand new sourdough starter since I’m writing a blog post about it this month and I needed to take pictures and have exact measurements. I’m very excited to share a step by step guide on how to make sourdough starter. Making a sourdough starter might seem complicated but it’s really not. You just have to do it and keep going with it!
After Dinner me, my toddler, and baby boy went for a short walk. It was freezing but my toddler was so happy he was able to spend a little time outside before getting ready for bed.

On Wednesday, I whipped up a batch of cranberry breakfast balls. Both me and my toddler are obsessed with these. They are so good and make for a really easy breakfast idea. When my toddler is being picky and doesn’t want to eat breakfast, these cranberry breakfast balls are something he will never turn down. Wednesday was pretty chilly out, so we spend the day whole day inside. Cleaning, playing, baking, all the things.
Thursday was a day spent making sourdough bread, doing Easter crafts, and going to the park. I’ve been testing my sourdough bread out like crazy and with lots of attempts have finally gotten my sourdough bread recipe down to perfection. I will be sharing my recipe this month and I am so excited! I absolutely love making sourdough recipes. It’s kind of an addiction. LOL. I tried out sourdough cinnamon rolls last week and also made some blueberry sourdough bagels this week. They were a hit! I definitely will be making some changes to the recipes to make them even better before I share them on my blog though. I’m slowly becoming a homemaker, and I’m obsessed. I’m in my sourdough era for good!
After our Easter crafts and my husband got home from work, we decided it was a park day. My toddler was super excited. All he could talk about was the park. The weather was pretty nice so we spent as much time at the park as we could. We had so much fun my toddler said more play the whole way home so I promised him we could go back to the park the next day.

So of course, Friday my toddler spent the whole morning and afternoon waiting for dad to get home so we could go to the park. All he talked about was more playing at the park. LOL. After my husband got home from work, we headed to the park. My toddler literally had even more fun than the day before. Baby boy was able to get some time to play on the ground too. Which he loved. He’s for sure an outside boy just like my toddler. I’m so glad both baby boy and my toddler love being outside so much. Mamma does too!

We are all definitely excited for the warmer park days though. Where we can spend the whole afternoon at the park and have a picnic. I plan to go to all the parks near us and to have lots of picnics with all the sourdough sandwiches! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Friday morning, I made blueberry sourdough bagels. I was worried they weren’t going to turn out, but they actually turned out really good. Devins favorite kind of bagels are blueberry bagels, and he thought they turned out really good as well! I’m going to test sourdough bagels out a BUNCH! I’ll be trying out lots of different flavors and testing out lots of different things to make sure I get a recipe that isn’t super complicated along with also being super yummy too.

I made another loaf of sourdough bread on Saturday too just to make sure my recipe was perfect, and the loaf turned out AMAZING! I really am so excited to share this recipe with you guys. For all the sourdough bread lovers out there, get ready! If you haven’t tried sourdough bread yet this will be your chance to. My recipe will be posted in a couple weeks!
Once the bread and bagels were done baking my husband and I got ourselves and the boys ready to go to a children’s museum near us. We planned to go see dinosaurs at an event that was happening about 25 minutes from us, but we heard from some family that it wasn’t worth it for the price we’d be paying. So instead, we decided to go to the children’s museum which is just 10 minutes away from us. This is where we celebrated my toddler’s 2nd birthday. He had a blast so we knew this would be a good alternative to seeing dinosaurs.
We went before my toddlers nap which I do regret because you could definitely tell he was tired and wasn’t in a super good mood. He still had so much fun but next time we will be waiting to go until after his nap. Baby boy slept his baby carrier almost the whole time. He did wake up shortly before we were leaving so he did get a little play time in with my toddler. I’m so excited for when both boys can actually play together!

If you have a toddler do, they still nap? If not, when did they stop napping? A couple months ago my toddler was fighting his naps so much but when he didn’t get them, he could hardly make it through the night. We tried no naps for a week or so and then when we went back to afternoon naps, he stopped fighting them and ever since he has loved taking naps and bedtime. I’m not too sure what happened but I feel like he’s going to be taking an afternoon nap for a while still. I know some people who have two year olds that don’t take naps anymore. My toddler could never. LOL.

Sunday was the warmest day last week and we spent so much time outside. We went on a short scooter ride and then my toddler just wanted to play and run around. This was my third cup of coffee on Sunday. And yes, I’m hardly ever using to go coffee cups. LOL.
I know a lot of people say when you live in an apartment that you can’t go outside and do things as much but since we’ve been living in an apartment how much we go outside hasn’t changed. We still go outside just as much, and we can always find so much to do around the apartment complex. Plus, our garage is filled with all the fun outside toys for my toddler.
Scooter rides, going on his slide, and throwing rocks in the water are some of my toddlers favorite things to do. I’m so lucky for the family I have and for how much my husband is involved with our boys. This family we have created is truly the best thing that’s happened in both mine and my husband’s life and I’m so thankful.

To end our Sunday, we went on a little evening walk after we had dinner. With the weather getting warmer I want to try and make a habit of going on nightly walks after dinner. It’s a great way to get some extra steps in and my toddler absolutely loves walks. I wish we could go on evening walks all year long, but you know that isn’t the case if you live in Wisconsion. LOL.

I hope you had the best weekend, and I wish you the best week! Thanks for reading along. This week I have some dinner recipes I’m going to share with you guys so stay tuned!
